Rouse maintains excellent results in Managing IP's IP Stars.
Rouse, in association with Beijing Lusheng law firm, has a large IP team operating from offices in Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou and Hong Kong. Rachel Tan is head of trade marks in China. The firm has had another strong year, especially in trade mark enforcement matters, and was named Managing IP's Asia-Pacific Firm of the Year (2017) in March. Enforcement specialist… Linda Chang has been busy recently in Beijing courts. "Rouse's IP team is one of the best I have worked with. There is no language barrier," says one client.

IP enforcement is the speciality of international firm Rouse. Following a recent business strategy review, the firm said it is now focusing on offering contentious and prosecution services outside the UK. It remains a leading IP firm to instruct in Asia and the Middle East, and has expanded into Africa through a joint venture with South African firm Von Seidels to form Rouse Africa. Trade mark specialist Chad Dowle heads up the firm's UAE business while Sara Holder oversees the entire Middle East operation.
In the contentious soft IP team are Edward Hardcastle, Samantha Grainger and recently promoted partner Bassel El Turk. "They are well-structured and able to advise clients in a professional way," one rival testifies. "The service is typically timely and the analysis helpful," says a client. Holder's familiarity with the jurisdiction impresses market commentators, as one client notes: "Sara Holder is extraordinarily good at understanding the business needs and explaining local practice." She is one of Managing IP's Top 250 Women in IP (2017). Amazon, Visa, Honeywell and Starbucks are among the clients on the firm's roster.

With nearly 20 offices around the world, IP specialist Rouse is Managing IP's Asia-Pacific Firm of the Year (2017). Celebrating its 20th anniversary in Vietnam, the "specialised and high quality firm" has earned a solid reputation in brand enforcement. From Hong Kong, Chris Vale leads the "competent and proactive" team of an executive, five other fee earners and more than 20 support staff in Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City. Adviser to global brands, such as Adidas, Diageo and The Coca-Cola Company, the trade mark practice is recommended for "proposing practical solutions", says a client. Yen Vu, specialist in IP contentious matters, has been promoted to executive, a rare achievement as there was only one other promotion throughout Rouse's global network in the past year.
